Reason

They are just trusting*

Jacinthe Bouchard, a specialist in animal behaviour, knows all about these "riendships*" between animals. According* to her, there are two reasons for it.

"When the brain* of a young animal is developing*", she explains, "there's a socialization period when the animal can be near any other animal can be near any other animal without* being afraid. So a mouse is not frightened* of vening near a shake or laion, because it doesn't know that it's dangerous*".

Animals that come into contact with each other during their socialization period can play together*, lick* each* other, sleep together, protect each other from danger*, etc. From a human point* of view, we tend to consider them as "friends". This "friendship" would be impossible between two animals that meet* when they are adults.
